Did You Know That Earthquake Damage is Excluded From Your Property Policy?
Homeowners, Condo, Renters, and Commercial Property policies typically do not include coverage for any damage to your home from an earthquake. Earthquake insurance is necessary because earthquakes in California are a fact of life. To fully protect your property investments from the devastating damage of earthquake, you need a separate earthquake policy.
Things to Consider
Deductible: Most Earthquake Policies come standard with a 10%-15% deductible. If the Dwelling value of your home is $300,000 and you have a 15% deductible, your deductible would be $45,000 in the event of a loss.
Personal Property & Loss of Use: Most Earthquake policies come with little to no Personal Property or Loss of Use coverage. If you want Personal Property or Loss of Use coverage, you usually need to add the Earthquake policy separately.
